Ambience is nearly as impactful as plot or great gameplay to draw us into a digital experience. Disagree? Take the music away from Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. Take the lighting effects out. Change the volume of the voices, action, or the music. It just doesn’t hit like it is supposed to. Govee seeks to add even more depth to home theater and gaming setups by continuing to innovate with the Govee AI Sync Box 2 and Floor Lamp 2.
Govee AI Sync Box 2
I’m sliding down a hill, dodging enemy fire, smashing the A button to get the best jumps I possibly can to avoid what likely will end in certain death. I can just imagine my current nemesis chuckling to herself thinking “It’s over, I have the high ground”. Not today though. I manage to make it to a building where I slam down some chug splashes and wait. Sure enough my enemy’s patience wears thin, and they pursue. Nothing a shotgun blast to the face can’t solve.
The Fortnite fight is over. Here’s the thing though. Normally when I get the kill, the game simply shows I’ve eliminated someone from the game. However, I have the Govee AI Sync Box 2 connected to my Xbox Series X and 65″ television. Now, when I get the kill, light bursts from the back of my TV (displayed on the wall behind it) and celebrates the victory with me. A different light displays when I’m low on health etc. I can even customize how it does this all through the convenience of the Govee app. Ambience. The Sync Box 2 is a wonder to behold. It is probably most notable when it is first connected.
In the box, I find the light strip, the AI TV Sync Box, a power adapter, 2 Ultra High-Speed HDMI cables (2.1), a user manual, and 10 mounting clips. Beware PC users, the Sync Box only supports HDMI, so if you connect to a display port, you may run into frustrations. Therefore, I really only recommend this product for console owners.
Simply Brilliant
Once it is connected, the light display will match what is on the screen. This means if you are watching a movie or playing a game with bright orange lights on half the screen and bright green on the other, the back will display those same colors along the wall. This makes for a truly immersive experience. The difference in the user experience is so fun. My friends literally ask about this product with frequency. It’s truly a sight to behold. It certainly spices things up a bit.
The Govee AI Sync Box 2 is one of my favorite gaming extras. I will admit, the excitement fades and the colors aren’t always on my mind. That’s what immersion does though. It isn’t the focus, it just adds to the ambience of what should be. This holiday, forget the keyboards, controllers, or gaming peripherals. Snag the Govee AI Sync Box 2 if you truly want to light up someone’s Christmas.
Govee Floor Lamp 2
The Govee Floor Lamp 2 takes a bit of getting used to. Setting it up took a bit of time and honestly a bit of frustration. While putting it together, I have to slide the light into the stand. Once it is complete I realize this lamp is actually pretty much a rope light wedged into a stand. That being said, once it is up and running and I sync it with the app, it’s kind of fun to use. There are tons of color options I can select, including preset options or even just warm light options for normal room settings. The remote conveniently clips onto the base.
The fun comes when I put it on “music” mode and the lamp reacts to the beat of the music I’m playing. I can sync it with other Govee products to match color, and I think it would make a great ambient option if I had two of them on either side of a TV with the Sync Box.
I really wish this lamp gave off a bit more light. at 1725 lumens, I’m honestly disappointed with its brightness, and again, I feel like it needs to work in tandem with other lighting or additional lamps. It does support Matter, and therefore I can use my Echo, Google, or Apple device to get it to turn on/off or adjust. All in all, I recommend this lamp if you have a bare corner and are seeking a modern light to spice things up a bit. If you are seeking a bright light to increase a rooms overall ambience, this may not be the right one for you.
