Majority is a brand that continues to innovate in its production of quality electronics at reasonable prices. They have done so again with the release of the Majority D40X Bookshelf Speakers. We took some time recently to test these speakers and see how they stood up against some old cabinet speakers.
The Majority D40X Bookshelf Speakers come in quality packaging. Each set arrives with Remote, power cord, AUX cable and a RCA to 1/8” headphone cable. Connecting the speakers can be done in a variety of ways using the provided cables or via Bluetooth. They display versatility in being able to be used for Mobile devices, TVs or plugged into other output devices like a computer, entertainment system or MP3 player.
Cabin Sounds
We tested the Majority D40X Bookshelf Speakers at our family cabin. I left it to my father-in-law to set up the Bluetooth on his phone and he was easily able to do that within a few minutes. He loves listening to classical music, so whether via Bluetooth from his phone or through the sound system, we’ve got him covered. We have the speaker set up in opposite corners of the room, separated by a couch and end tables. This puts the speakers approximately 12 feet apart from each other. As such, we did have to purchase a RCA extension to bridge the gap. The typical use of these speakers would be on a bookshelf or TV stand, putting them about 3 or 4 feet apart.
Majority offering versions of these speakers, the D40 and the D40X. While both boast quality construction, the D40X adds in Kevlar yellow speaker cones for that extra touch. The D40 is a 60 Watt pair and the D40X is a slight upgrade delivering 70 watts of power. This is easily enough to fill all 1200 sq ft of the cabin. Initially, we were worried that the sound would get lost in the vaulted ceiling. Even though there are no finished walls, the speakers provide a crisp, clear sound throughout the room.
Considerations
It is pretty easy to like the Majority D40X Bookshelf Speakers. The only issue that we noticed was that if there is no device connected and the device is still on, it blinks off the back of the unit. This was a little distracting at night to see a blinking light in the room, so we turned the speakers off. Another thing to keep in mind when using Bluetooth, initial paring may not work if the device is connected to another BT device. Disconnect that device so that the speakers can pair with the new device. This is the way most Bluetooth devices would behave so it isn’t something to provide concern.
Conclusion
From the ease of connection to the yellow Kevlar touch, there are plenty of advantages here. Whether you are using these bookshelf speakers on an actual bookshelf, bookending your TV or just generic speakers around the room, the Majority D40X Bookshelf Speakers are a classy set of quality speakers that you will enjoy for years to come.
