Why Lucyd Smart Glasses Are the Future of Eyewear (and Why I Can’t Stop Smiling)

Several months ago, I turned down the opportunity to review Smart Glasses from Amazon. Eh, someone else on the team can cover it I figure. Fast forward to this summer and Lucyd Eyewear offers me a pair of Smart Sunglasses. This could be good I think to myself. Little did I know – this was going to be great. So great in fact, that Lucyd Eyewear and their Eddie Bauer Horizon Smart Glasses are my top gadget of the summer. I’m not sure how I lived without them. Here’s why.

Outdoor Perfection

These Smart Sunglasses from Lucyd Eyewear have every feature I didn’t know I need. I wear them fishing, and I can have low volume music playing through Spotify (or any app of my choosing) without bothering anyone else in the boat. I can see right through the glare of the water as the Horizon sunglasses are polarized and maximally reduce glare. I often see the Northern Pike speeding just behind my lure before the big hit. It’s truly exhilarating. My wife calls, and I don’t miss the call because I can answer right on the glasses. Time for lunch. I guess my fishing trip is getting cut short. Oh well, I’m hungry anyways.

Fast forward to my 7am morning reading. I find myself sitting out on dock. The sun is beating down, and I’m deep in thought. Cello music serenades my thoughtfulness, and I’m feeling deep gratitude for the beauty that surrounds me. My son comes out to talk to me. I press a button on the frames to lower the volume briefly. When I’m sick of the tune, I can skip it or even pause it with the left or right buttons. When I’m just sick of music, I turn the Smart feature off and enjoy the view through the glasses anyways. Why on earth would I choose earbuds on a day like today. I can wear these anywhere, and they just look like stylish glasses – the difference is these hide an amazing tech secret.

Stylish and Functional

Whether driving, strolling through the grocery store, or laying on the beach, the Lucyd Eyewear Eddie Bauer Horizon Sunglasses fit the bill. When I first see them, I wonder if they will be too bulky due to the added tech. Reality is, no one will know. I wear these glasses everywhere, and I get compliments on the look. When I show off the Smart Features like the ability to talk to Google or Siri, people are shocked. Apple users can even as ChatGPT questions. This means I can get weather reports, ask for specific songs, or get the latest headlines without moving a muscle. I just ask. Then, I get the response to my question right in my ears.

If the volume is exceedingly high, a keen outside ear may hear it as well, but at medium to low volumes music and audio are quite private. Naturally, I can have phone conversations right through the glasses as well. The speakers are optimally positioned just outside the ears for perfect sound.

When I’m done talking on the phone through them, whatever tune was playing before simply resumes naturally. These Sunglasses offer a soundtrack to my life, and they energize what can often be mundane trips in the car or throughout a store. I have now decided I need a pair of regular smart glasses, as I just can’t get enough of the tech. After all, it can be a bit awkward walking through the store being “that guy” with the sunglasses still on. The Horizon model is certainly optimal for this, as they aren’t super dark lenses.

What’s Missing?

You are probably thinking Lucyd Eyewear sent me a pair of rose-colored glasses by now. Yes, I am celebrating them a lot. I celebrate for good reason. However, there is always something that could change or be better with any product. Lucyd’s Eddie Bauer Horizon sunglasses tend to get loose in the nosepiece, and I find myself going to tighten it every once in a while, with a glasses repair kit. It’s a minor nuisance but worth mentioning. Additionally, the nosepiece can get a bit uncomfortable after long use. There are other styles available that most likely solve this.

Finally, the included charging dock is really bulky. It took me several tries to figure out how exactly the glasses sit to charge. Thankfully, Lucyd includes a hard case, and an additional option for charging that isn’t so confusing or bulky for those on the go.

Summary

Lucyd Eyewear partners with some incredible eyewear and style companies like Nautica and Eddie Bauer to create amazing Smart Glasses. I’m in love with this product, and I didn’t think I would care so much. However, after testing these out in the real world and realizing the dual purpose served in sunglasses and the smart tech option, I’ve found something I feel like I need. I’ll be keeping these around for a long time, and I look forward to testing more options in the future. Now, it’s time for me to head outdoors fishing. What music should I put on in the background?
