Unboxing:
I’ve written about the quality presentation of Brunt before. Unboxing the new Brunt Sullivan is no different. A refreshing leather aroma greets me and I’m compelled to get these boots on my feet ASAP! The Sullivan is deep brown with thick leather and a comfortably plush tongue. A feature I appreciate as I often find laced boots create a lot of pressure on the top of my foot (dorsum).
The rich barnyard-resistant leather is sourced from American steer. The leather is both supple to the touch, but also incredibly durable and built to handle the toughest conditions. I notice the Sullivan is double and triple-stitched at key stress points. Another example of the durability and quality I’ve come to expect from Brunt. The new Sullivan is also stylish enough to wear as an everyday boot out and about. Once again, demonstrating both its functionality and versatility.
Experience:
Lacing up the Sullivan is a breeze. The I pass-through or wrap-around lace hooks with heavy-duty eyelets give me multiple options based on my activity. I love this versatility. Typically, I prefer using the lace hooks, but on some jobs the I pass-through is better. I like the additional ankle support and not worrying about a lace catching or coming undone.
Additionally, the Sullivan is comfortable. Really comfortable. Whether I am up and down stairs and ladders, or doing lots of flexing and bending – the Sullivan moves with my foot. Even if I am on my feet all day, the premium cushioning keeps my feet feeling fresh. I also notice my back doesn’t get as sore because I don’t have to compensate for achy feet.
This is because Brunt has equipped the Sullivan with a nylon shank for additional midfoot support. The enhanced rubber outsole is also slip, oil, and high-heat resistant so I’m worry free on just about any job and know the Sullivan is durable enough for even the most demanding jobs.
I love the multilayered insole that has an anti-odor treatment. The cushy bottom layer supports a memory foam midlayer that I can feel conform to my foot. It cradles my foot so I never feel like I’m pounding my foot or feeling the outsole against pressure points. (Which I find really common in other work boots). The nonstick top layer keeps my foot feeling free even if they get a little sweaty. With built-in adjustable width, I can get the perfect fit (adjustable from D to a relaxed EE fit).
Features:
The Sullivan is built with a breathable waterproof membrane so my feet don’t overheat. Yet, they have waterproof leather to lock out moisture and keep my feet dry as well. They also feature an industry leading BRUNT rubber outsole. Which includes a 90° defined heel and 5mm lugs for improved stability.
The new Sullivan’s outsole also provides a secondary source of protection for accidental contact with live electrical circuits or electrical hazard (EH). If all of those features aren’t enough, the outsole and midsole also meet ASTM D47-06 903# oil and isooctane chemical-resistant standards. As well as, ASTM F2913-19 SATRA and ASTM F1677-96 Mark II non-slip testing standards. One feature I really like is the round toe design. This means it sheds sparks better when I’m engaged in grinding or welding. Overall, the new Brunt Sullivan is loaded with safety and comfort features proving its versatility and durability.
Summary:
The new Brunt Sullivan is an excellent everyday work boot. It is comfortable, durable, versatile, and features numerous safety features. My only wish is that it was available in additional colors. So, whether you are on your feet all day, trudging through jobsites, or looking for a stylish boot the Sullivan is the quality everyday work boot suited to the task at hand.
