Costa is renowned for their commitment to providing some of the best outdoor and water eyewear around. The Tailfin is no exception featuring a modernized classic Costa design. Complete with comfort enhancing features, refined and chiseled frames, and two size options – the Tailfin will help you maximize every moment you spend on the water.
Putting on the Costa Tailfin sunglasses for the first time I immediately notice they are lighter weight than other sunglasses I’ve worn. The simple, yet stylish frames sit comfortably on my nose bridge and along my head behind my ears. They seem to have just the right balance to stay firmly in place without pinching or creating pressure across the temples. Notably, the Tailfin comes in two sizes so those of us with bigger (or smaller) heads can enjoy our watery adventures fully equipped!
Experience:
Additionally, the Costa Tailfin sunglasses come with a flexible zippered hardcase and cleaning clothe. The sunglasses fit well in the case, and the zippered closure makes sure they stay in place when stored. But anytime I have a zipper with sunglasses I worry I may scratch the lenses. However, the Tailfin comes with lenses that have a C-Wall coating to provide extra scratch-resistance. This barrier also repels water, oil, and sweat making cleaning them even easier when I use the included cleaning clothe.
Once I get on some open water, the Tailfin’s premium polarized lenses give me amazing views that cut right through the glare of the water. As the day continues I realize how much less eye fatigue I am experiencing. This is because of the reduced glare, but also because the Tailfin lenses absorb one-hundred percent to the UV light.
One of my favorite experiences using the Tailfin is when I am able to see fish, turtles, logs and snags clearly. I am able to avoid hang ups I would under other conditions never have seen. The increased visibility helps me find better fishing environments, and even see the fish before I cast my line in the water.
On another outing, we were simply boating and spending time on the beach. Not only are the Tailfins fashionable, but they are extremely comfortable. They are the type of sunglasses that I can just put on and almost forget that I am wearing them. I never needed to take them off. Whether we were boating at high speeds, playing in the water, or running on the beach tossing the ball – they just wear really well in all conditions. The Tailfin really helps me maximize my outdoor experience.
Features:
I will say, the Tailfin has a simpler nose bridge and temple arm than other Costa sunglasses I’ve worn. While they don’t have as many sweat-channeling features I still find them extremely comfortable. Mostly, I think this is because they are fairly lightweight and provide excellent coverage that reduces light leak.
This maximum coverage is due to the Base 8 decentered lens curve. Not only do the Tailfin’s reduce light leak, but the Costa 580® Polarized lenses actually enhance colors. The lens’ multi-patented technology absorbs harmful High-Energy Blue Light (HEV) and filters out harsh yellows. They also enhance reds, greens, and blues so I can experience a vivid landscape all day long. This means my eyes are safer and less stressed and strained. Filtering reflective glare is essential for me when I am on the water or outdoors.
Summary:
The Costa Tailfin is extremely comfortable for all day wear. With outstanding features like the Base 8 lens curve, 580® Polarized lenses, and scratch resistant C-Wall coating the Tailfin doesn’t disappoint. They are durable, deliver enhanced vision, and feature a stylish Bio-Resin frame. The Costa Tailfin is ideal for both performance and comfort, maximizing every moment for the water enthusiast!
